Prior to the implementation of Microsoft® Dynamics NAV® and the ExpandIT web shop solution, Drezga-Deržič LLC. used to operate in a local bookkeeping system. Given the company development, the existing system was no longer able to fulfill the needs of Drezga-Deržič for effective and simple reporting, and business operation in general. To improve the quality of its business processes and resolve the above mentioned problems, Drezga-Deržič opted for the implementation of a new system.

Business Situation

Drezga-Deržič is a wholesaler and distributor of products for forestry, park and garden maintenance of well-know Swedish company Husqvarna. A broad range of Husqvarna products is among the largest in the world. In addition to managing and handling products, the company also provides accessories, tools, protection equipment, oils and lubricants. These products are highly effective and reliable due to innovative technology, advanced ergonomic solutions and environmentally friendly engines. Drezga-Deržič has been developing dynamically recently, and from a small family company has grown into a company that currently cooperates with more than 50 distributors in .

Prior to the implementation of Microsoft® Dynamics NAV® Drezga-Deržič used to operate in the local bookkeeping system and the local tailor made web shop solution. Given the dynamic company development, the bookkeeping solution turned out to be inadequate for the company requirements. Maintenance and further development of both solutions posed increasing problems. In addition, these two applications were insufficiently complementary, and it was becoming more and more difficult to achieve their synchronization. Given the above mentioned facts, important information commonly failed to be timely, and the response to business changes was not prompt enough. Moreover, the maintenance costs for these applications were inappropriately high. To resolve these issues, the company started to seek for an integrated, functional and scalable solution that would fulfill its current requirements and enable tracking of further company business development. Concurrently, the solutions were not supposed to be extremely demanding for their Users, and needed to be cost-effective.

The results of the market research showed that Microsoft® Dynamics NAV® and ExpandIT fulfilled all company requirements.

Since the company is continuously concerned over its recruitment structure and permanent Employee education and uses Microsoft® platform based tools in its operations, it was easy to help the Users get used to the new system. Due to simple User interface based on Microsoft technology and professional project management by RECRO-NET, the Users were quickly able to acquire the skills needed to operate with new solutions.

The implementation of both solutions began in mid-2008, the new go live solutions became operational on January 1, 2009, whereas the delivery log was signed in early February 2009.

Drezga-Deržič implemented the standard Microsoft® Dynamics NAV® 4.00 modules: General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Sales and Receivables, Relationship Management, Procurement and Payables, Inventory, Warehouse Management, Resources, Human Resources Records, and RECRO-NET add-ons: Customs Warehouse, Payroll and Treasury.

The basic reasons for the decision to implement Microsoft® Dynamics NAV® were the following:

- A need for centralized, integrated and complementary solutions to increase solution efficiency and reduce maintenance costs;

- A need for simple, prompt and efficient report development;

- A better insight into current business data as an assumption for operational and strategic decision-making, and a quality insight into business processes and real-time company business review.

The implementation process included a project team of six people from all lines of business. During the implementation there were also other persons involved in the project when needed. The implementer had three permanent consultants of its own, whereas software designers were engaged according to the scope and dynamics required in the project.
