NEED

In addition to Anti-virus and Anti-spam protection, and regular application of security patches for Customers’ and servers’ operating systems, it is also required to undertake some security measures to make sure the IT system is completely protected from malicious attackers, data loss and system breakdowns.

SOLUTION

The solution consists of the following security measures:

Firewall

Firewall is used to control and block network connections. In addition to the Firewall used for the Clients, the Firewall server is used at the level of the entire IT system in corporate environments to control the incoming network traffic, but also to control and restrict the outgoing Internet traffic with Clients. Microsoft ISA (Internet Security & Acceleration) Server is a standard for network traffic control and management, and as a result, we have chosen it as a solution to offer to our Customers.

NAP

Network Access Protection is a new feature built into the new Microsoft operating system, Windows Server 2008. This platform controls the access of all computers to the corporate network. In operates on the principle of computer “health” control, with requirements to be fulfilled by Clients’ computers (e.g. the current Anti-virus software, current security patches for the operating system, active Firewall, etc.). If the Clients do not fulfill the security requirements, they will be placed in the quarantine with an option for automatic installation of the required software. After the Clients have undergone all tests, they will be allowed to access the network.

Encryption

The disc encryption function is built into the new generation Microsoft operating systems (, Server 2008). The encryption of all disc data is particularly recommendable for portable workstations, i.e. laptops. In the event of the computer loss/theft, confidential business data will be protected with 128 or 256 encryption key. It would take a couple of years to unlock this key on present day computers.
